Howard Weinstein | Founding Principal

Mr. Howard Weinstein has been a prominent leader in the Arizona residential land brokerage and homebuilding industry for the last 30 years. In his extensive experience as a homebuilding senior executive, Mr. Weinstein acquired, entitled, and developed thousands of acres and lots, while spearheading the construction of over $1 billion of single-family residential communities. During Mr. Weinstein’s more recent tenure as one of Arizona most recognized land brokers, he has collectively conducted brokerage transactions of more than $2 billion.

 

The Land Agency, which Mr. Weinstein founded, is a leading land brokerage agency serving the acquisition and disposition needs of the top homebuilders, developers, investors, landowners, farmers, and lending institutions operating in the Arizona. As part of his responsibilities with The Land Agency, Mr. Weinstein has represented the nation’s top 20 publicly traded homebuilders, including, but not limited to, Meritage Homes, DR Horton, Richmond American, KB Home, Lennar, Pulte, Beazer Homes and K Hovnanian Homes. Under the leadership of Mr. Weinstein, The Land Agency has grown to become one of the most successful land brokerage agencies in Arizona.

Mr. Weinstein has been quoted in numerous local and national press articles, including the Wall Street Journal, the Economist, and the Business Journal. He is a contributor to the national well-known real estate market reports published by industry analyst, Ivy Zelman. Mr. Weinstein was recognized by the AZRE Magazine as one of the “Top 1,000 People to Know” in Arizona. Mr. Weinstein has also been an expert panelist and guest speaker for some of the most well-known housing market conferences.


In addition to The Land Agency, Mr. Weinstein recently was bought out of General Partnership in a $50 million real estate private equity fund, established in partnership with Tricon Capital Group, to acquire distressed U.S. single-family homes. That partnership was one of five companies selected by Tricon as part of a strategy to partner with “best in class” local operators to acquire properties in markets with high distress and strong underlying fundamentals, at prices well below replacement cost. The fund had been successful in achieving or exceeding all targeted financial hurdle returns with a single-family for-rent portfolio of 400 homes in the Phoenix MSA.

In 2004 Mr. Weinstein, co-founded the commercial real estate brokerage firm Weinstein & Harris, LLC, which also specialized in residential land brokerage within the Phoenix Metropolitan area. From 2004 to 2008 Weinstein & Harris LLC brokered over $100 million in sales annually and the firm was consistently ranked as one of the top 5 real estate brokerage firms in Arizona. The firm managed some of Arizona’s largest and most complex land transactions. In 2008, Weinstein and Harris was acquired by a national real estate brokerage company. From 2001 to 2004, Mr. Weinstein held the position of Partner for a private land brokerage firm is Scottsdale AZ. During his tenure with that firm, Mr. Weinstein brokerage activities included land and lot transactions of more than $1.2 billion.

From 1996 to 2001, Mr. Weinstein served as Vice President of Land Acquisition & Development at the Phoenix Division of KB Home. Mr. Weinstein helped grow the Phoenix division of KB Home from the 25th ranked builder, delivering 300 units a year, to the 3rd ranked builder, delivering over 2,100 units a year. Mr. Weinstein was responsible for the successful acquisition, entitlement, and development of thousands of residential lots in every active submarket within the Phoenix MSA.

Mr. Weinstein began his career in the Phoenix home-building market in new home sales and as the land acquisition manager for Diamond Key Homes, a mid-size private homebuilder. During the first year of his tenure with Diamond Key Homes, Mr. Weinstein was recognized with a MAME Award for Rookie of the Year for new home sales. 

 

As a hobby, Mr. Weinstein is a multiple time 1st place winner in Arizona NPC Masters Bodybuilding and Classic Physique competitions. Mr. Weinstein’s commitment to the community is demonstrated by his contributions to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Arizona Humane Society, and many others.
